SAFEMEAT is a partnership between the Australian meat and livestock industry and state and federal governments.
Members of SAFEMEAT include representatives from the Australian Meat Industry Council, Cattle Council of Australia, Sheepmeat Council of Australia, Meat and Livestock Australia, Australian Lot Feeders’ Association, Australian Livestock Exporters’ Council, Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Australian Chief Veterinary Officer, the Chief Executive Officer of State/Territory Department of Agriculture/Primary Industries and the Chief Executive Officer of State/Territory Meat Industry Authority (or equivalent body).

SAFEMEAT partnership is to ensure that red meat products achieve the highest standards of safety and hygiene from farm to consumer and to provide strategic direction and policy advice to the red meat industry. Every sector of the red meat production chain in Australia is represented on SAFEMEAT, from cattle and sheep producers, to processors, to meat and livestock exporters, to government representatives.
