Animal welfare guidelines for animals at saleyards have been practiced since 1991. The Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals - Animals at Saleyards covers:

• The conduct of management personnel and animal handlers;
• Stock handling facilities;
• Loading and unloading of stock from transportation; and
• The humane destruction of stock.
