Inspection procedures at port of destination

When sealed containers of Australian meat arrive in most export destinations they may be opened and re-inspected by the relevant authority. This inspection is to ensure that the contents match the label and certificate, and that the product is in good condition. Any temperature fluctuations logged over the journey are assessed, and if any problems are detected, corrective action can be undertaken.
