State/Territory animal health controls

While Australia’s animal health systems are often coordinated at the national level, it is the states and territories that often regulate these systems.

The Federal Government is concerned with animal health controls and eradication programs and is responsible for policy, coordinating the states and territories and taking a strategic approach to ensure international implications are accounted for. The State and Territory Governments have the responsibility for enforcement of these policies. The responsible State Government departments are:
