Animal health controls

The Federal Government is concerned with animal health controls and eradication programs and is responsible for policy, coordinating the states and territories and taking a strategic approach to ensure international implications are accounted for. more

Meat safety controls

In Australia, domestic processing establishments that are not producing for export are not required to be registered with AQIS.  Instead, they can elect to be registered by the meat safety authority in their state or territory.  more
