Meat safety controls

In Australia, domestic processing establishments that are not producing for export are not required to be registered with AQIS.  Instead, they can elect to be registered by the meat safety authority in their state or territory. 

Importing countries may accept product from establishments under the control of state and territory authorities where there are verification arrangements between the state/territory authority and AQIS, and the importing country accepts this system.
