Sheep and Lambs

The Australian sheep industry is also involved with the NLIS. The identification scheme involves sheep being identified with a whole-of-life eartag containing a Property Identification Code (PIC) indicating the property of birth. Property movements can be traced through the NVD system.

All state and territory governments, together with industry, have agreed to aim for the introduction of the NLIS - sheep by 1 July 2005.
