Australia has implemented many proactive control measures in order to remain free of many livestock diseases that plague many countries such as bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), scrapie (Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies) and foot and mouth disease. Reports on Australia’s animal health status are published quarterly , annually , and are also provided to the World Organization for Animal Health  (OIE).
