In recent years, the ability to trace product back to its origins has been increasingly sought by customers around the world. Traceability may be considered a current issue however in Australia, livestock traceability has been in existence for over 40 years. more

Livestock Transport

As well as on-farm traceability systems (PICs and the NLIS), the NVD waybill form is used as a mechanism to continue the system of traceability through the livestock transportation stage of the supply chain.  Furthermore, EAN numbering can continue to be used. more

Processing

It is a requirement that stock arriving at export abattoirs can be traced to the last property of residence. more

Both paper and EAN based traceability systems have been developed to follow-on from measures implemented in earlier steps of the supply chain to maintain the traceability of Australian meat. more
